Honda to introduce a redesigned CR-V this fall

Our friends over at Car and Driver heard it directly from the horse’s mouth that the Japanese automaker is currently prepping the successful CR-V for launch this fall as a 2012 model.

The news isn’t surprising in itself, as Honda is in the habit of redesigning its models every five years or so, and the little SUV is nearing its expiry date.

Judging by the work accomplished with the Civic, we can mostly expect minor aesthetic changes both inside and out, as well as a few tweaks to the new engine to improve fuel economy.

If our predictions are correct, the same four-cylinder mill and five-speed transmission should be back.

In 2010, a total of 24,930 CR-Vs were sold in Canada, 34% more than the previous year. In comparison, Toyota sold 22,810 RAV4s in 2010.
