2019 Honda Pilot: The Ultimate Winter Driver

Why Buyers Are Loving the Toughened Up 2019 Honda Pilot

All summer, spring and fall there’s one thing Ottawa residents’ dread: winter driving. Unfortunately, with January in full swing it has become a swift and harsh reality. From slick roads, to icy windshields, there’s really only one way to battle the conditions – find a vehicle that’s tough enough for the task. Fortunately, the new 2019 Honda Pilot might just be the answer to your winter blues.

No only has Honda refreshed and revived the Pilot for 2019, they’ve also added a bunch of great features that car buyers are loving. Here’s what the tough new 2019 Honda Pilot is bringing to the table.

A Toughened Up Look

Some drivers found that previous Pilot models were more resembling of a minivan than an SUV. Those people will be happy to know that Honda has changed the look of the 2019! The 2019 Honda Pilot got quite the glow up with new plastic front and rear bumper covers, a deeper grille, and redesigned taillights. Additionally, the Touring trim models also includes full LED headlamps with Honda’s upscale trademark design, some extra exterior chrome and new 20-inch machine-finished alloys with black painted pockets.

A Tough Engine

The 2019 Honda Pilot touts an impressive 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. When equipped, the Pilot will do 13.0L per 100 kilometres of city driving, 9.3 on the highway and 11. 3 combined. If you opt for the nine-speed automatic that changes to 12.4 for city, 9.3 for highway and 11.0 combined.

Regardless of your choice in transmission, the Pilot’s towing capacities remain the same. Pilots with front-wheel drive can tow up to 1,587 kg (3,500 lbs) and those with all wheel drive are rated up to 2,268kg (5,000 lbs)! This makes it perfect for hauling around an ATV or snowmobile.

Tough to Beat Features

Another reason to consider the 2019 Honda Pilot is cargo capacity. The space behind the third row alone is 524 litres, or roughly the size of a large car’s trunk. When you fold down the third row, you can bump the space up to 1,583 litres; and with both rear rows folded flat, you’re looking at a whopping 3,072 to 3,092 litres of space. That’s enough room for a lot of hockey gear!

A few more exciting features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch audio display system, multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, available advanced rear entertainment system, available CabinTalk, available Honda LaneWatch blind spot display, available wireless charging, available 11 speaker,600-watt premium audio system and more!

If you live in Ottawa, then you’re likely no stranger to winter driving. While most of us wish we could just hibernate for the season, for the majority of dweller there’s simply no escaping the conditions.
