Sightseeing Day Trips
The Honda Civic Si is built for cruising. Car and Driver Magazine named the Honda Civic Si one of its 10 Best Cars calling it fun to drive and very comfortable. And with excellent highway mileage on your side, there’s nothing stopping you from driving the entire 202 kilometers along the beautiful Rideau Heritage route along the Rideau Canal. The canal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stretches from the Ottawa River following the Cataraqui and Rideau Rivers, to Lake Ontario in Kingston.
Not too far off the beaten path of the Rideau Heritage route is a very scenic spot to stretch your legs. Just east of the small village of Westport you’ll find Foley Mountain. The granite ridge overlooking the historic Upper Rideau waterway has a lookout and hiking trails but it’s also known for its hands-on educational programs for children and youth groups.
Top Notch Picnic Spots
If it’s a picnic destination you’re thinking of, your new Honda Civic Hatchback is the perfect Honda car for trip like that. It has loads of storage room for the blanket, a picnic basket and even some lawn chairs. The beautiful Gatineau Hills are practically in our own backyard and offer almost 20 different spots to have a picnic! Some even offer the use of a charcoal BBQ. Just one thing to keep in mind when planning a visit to the Gatineau picnic areas – dogs and other pets are not permitted to come with you. If you’re hoping for a destination with a little more to do than lay on the grass and eat lunch, than consider this spot when hitting the highway with your new Honda car.
The Bonnechere Caves are about 120 kilometers northwest of Ottawa along the beautiful Bonnechere River. Bring a flashlight and good walking shoes as you explore above and below ground and learn. Guided tours will provide a ton of information about some of the fossils that have been discovered in the caves.
