What’s New With the Honda Civic Type R?
A lot seems familiar with next year’s rendition of the Type R when compared to its 2021 version with its familiar honeycomb vent design, airflow, and comes with the classic wing on the back. With the outside of this vehicle looking like a mix between a rally car and a race car on the oval track, this car is guaranteed to turn heads.
Now what is new is the engine. We are a little far away from the official launch of this car here in North America so nothing is confirmed with the engine, but looking at Japanese release specifications of this vehicle, we can see it comes with a 325 horsepower engine and 310 lbs of torque, putting it nearly 19 horses ahead of its 2021 predecessor.
Looking at the interior, Honda is rolling out the red carpet, and we mean that literally! It has a beautiful interior with red trim and mats as well as its driver information system. This state-of-the-art system transitions from the standard speedometer to a racing-style information screen with the simple click of a button.
Who Is This Car Made for?
Well, first things first: this car may be a bit overkill for someone using it just to go to and from work. This car is meant to be enjoyed by Honda lovers and car enthusiasts. With a classic 6-speed transmission (Yes, this car is manual) and traction control available right at the hands of the driver, this car lets the driver take control of every turn and bump in the road.
The Type R will comfortably seat 4 (including the driver) with easy to maintain fabric racing-style bucket seats, letting your passengers experience the fast and powerful Type R.
What Can We Expect to Pay?
While this car is in the civic family of vehicles, don’t expect to pay the Civic price, it’s in a league of its own. With its bucket seats, aerodynamic features and dash customizability, this is a car for driving enthusiasts who crave extra power, and the price is expected to reflect that.
That being said, Honda has yet to officially release the expected retail price for this car, but it’s expected to go for more than its 2021 predecessor, which started at $46,200 MSRP in Canada.
